Ohio University’s academic linkage with Beijing International Studies University (BISU) in China will also offer collaborative outreach for the Institute for International Journalism (IIJ). Ohio University signed a memorandum of understanding with BISU on Oct. 15, 2013.
BISU was founded in 1964 by China’s late premier Zhou Enlai. Its mission is to train professionals in international fields such as foreign affairs, tourism, and business. BISU also provides education in other diverse disciplines such as literature, economics, management, and communications. For the IIJ, this collaborative outreach will primarily be based on comparative research and media pedagogy, which is a vital component of the IIJ’s mission to promoting international comparative research.
