On June 30, 2010, the Institute for International Journalism at Ohio University welcomed journalism educators from Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Ecuador, Finland, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Macedonia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Thailand, Vietnam, West Bank and Zambia.

The journalism educators are here for six weeks to participate in the Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) on Journalism and Media - also locally known as the Journalism Scholars' Summer Institute. The faculty and graduate students in the Scripps College of Communication are involved in the administration of and academic portion of this scholars' program.

The SUSI Journalism and Media program is funded by a grant from the Department of State's Study of the U.S. Branch of the Office of Academic Exchange Programs.
